Feedback could include opportunities where shared platforms, subsea cabling, marine operations, ports, vessels, data systems, monitoring tools, or grid interconnection approaches could serve multiple purposes. It also includes considerations around environmental monitoring, permitting and regulatory pathways, stakeholder engagement (including fishing and coastal communities), and design concepts that could allow aquaculture (such as shellfish or seaweed cultivation, depending on region and regulations) to operate alongside energy generation while managing safety, navigation, and ecosystem impacts. DOE is seeking real-world insights on what is technically feasible, what is commercially attractive, what barriers exist, and what research or pilot activities would most effectively de-risk multi-use approaches.
The RFI is open to all respondents (eligible applicants listed as unrestricted) because it is not a financial assistance opportunity.
